Think an enjoyable day out on the water is all you get from purchasing a Louisiana saltwater fishing license?
Think again.
That’s because along with their fishing license the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is giving anglers a “License to Win.”
Everyone who purchases a saltwater license and keeps their contact information current with LDWF is placed in a drawing to win monthly prizes from Whole Foods, YETI, Academy Sports & Outdoors, Texaco and Shimano, as well as the grand prize, a 22’ bay boat, trailer and motor donated by Venice Marina, Mercury Outboards and Mike Gerald’s Trailer Depot.
All you have to do to enter is buy a saltwater license, give us an accurate email address or phone number and respond to our verification email or phone call to validate your contact information.
We hope the opportunity to win a prize will lure our fallen away anglers who haven’t fished in a few years to come back to the sport while also enticing non-fishermen to support the efforts of our agency, because, after all, fishery conservation extends beyond our angling community and touches just about everyone in Louisiana.
The giveaway is our way of saying “thank you” to our anglers while also providing us with up-to-date contact information for our LA Creel survey, an effort to monitor recreational fishing landings. With the most accurate and current information, LDWF will be able to better manage our fisheries with the ultimate goal of maximizing fishing opportunities for anglers.
The monthly drawings will begin in August 2015, culminating with the grand prize drawing Aug. 15, 2016.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Prizewinners will be contacted by LDWF after each drawing to notify the winner and secure a pick-up time and location. Prizes (except for the grand prize) can be picked up at 2021 Lakeshore Dr. New Orleans, LA 70122 or 2000 Quail Dr. Baton Rouge, LA 70898 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Arrangements will be made for delivery of the grand prize. All applicable federal, state and local taxes associated with winning any prize is the sole responsibility of the winner. LDWF is not responsible for any travel or fees not included in the prize. LDWF is not responsible for prizes not used by entitled expiration dates, and prizes cannot be renewed or refunded.
