The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and the Geaux Fish Exhibit is a state of the art facility in downtown New Orleans that is highlighting the diversity of the world’s marine and aquatic environments.
Featured exhibits include galleries focused on the Amazon River, Gulf of Mexico, Living in Water and Geaux Fish. Each gallery is both fun and educational and boasts many interactive exhibits.
In the Geaux Fish gallery, a cooperative effort with the LDWF, you can experience fighting a fish or driving a boat with state of the art simulators. Learn all about native fish and how to catch them. Get a glimpse of life around the oil rigs with a giant aquarium display.
Over one million visitors per year go through the exhibit and learn all about Louisiana’s rich diversity and how the LDWF manages and enhances the public’s experience.
Each tank has an associated interactive exhibit that teaches people about the residents of the tank. There is even a 10,000-gallon tank that is full of tagged redfish and trout as a living example of the tagging programs implemented by the LDWF.
The Geaux Fish exhibit has something for all ages and really shows off Louisiana’s rich diversity of aquatic and marine life.
